I am a scientist, wife and mother. I fell in love with biology at a very young age, my natural curiosity was fed by my parents exposing me to the outdoors through fishing, hiking, boating, skiing, snowshoeing and numerous activities and replying to my questions with scientific answers or resources. I always knew that science and biology were my passions.

In 2008, I started working with aquatic invasive species at the Colorado Department of Wildlife with the identification, prevention and management of zebra and quagga mussels. I continued her studies in invasive species management with a Master’s program at the University of Idaho conducting ecotoxicological studies, new technology applications and determining the application of control technology to facilities. After graduate work, I worked for companies to assess ecosystem health and conduct ecotoxicological studies on methods to control infestations of zebra and quagga mussels.

I founded the company after several years of providing expertise for private and public agencies. My expertise in aquatic ecology, specifically in invasive species management and control and water quality issues has been recognized by other scientists and managers in the field. I work with clients to provide expertise regarding their needs, and through KASF Consulting I can provide controlled laboratory studies and field studies to pursue questions about control measures. These studies are conducted using good laboratory practice methods and I provide quality assurance with the studies. I continually interact with clients to collaborate on needs as their business progresses.

I have been invited to present my work at various meetings, host trainings for veliger analysis and laboratory setup, and guide field trips to invasive species infested areas. I have worked with hatchery personnel to monitor their water quality and evaluate it for parasites and other foreign organisms.

As the principal research scientist with KASF Consulting, I develop procedures and protocols for each study with any study collaborators, and implement the study design, data collection, work with and train staff as needed, analyze the data with appropriate statistical analysis, write and present study findings and publish in peer reviewed journals.
